Product Description The Secret is in the Formula SILCA Super Secret Chain lube started out as a project to develop the fastest Hot-Melt wax lubricant available more than two years ago. SILCA has been recommending Hot Melt Wax and helping Pro cyclists and triathletes wax chains for years and wanted to bring his lubricant formula to our customers, the challenge was how to consistently melt, dip and agitate the chain across different crockpot designs and temperatures. The project took a fascinating turn from the world of IndyCar when we were introduced to a group that had developed a technology to put micro-scale wax powders into a solution that was quick drying and forms a coating that is indiscernible from hot melt dipping. The combination of air-drying liquid wax and Tungsten Disulfide would quickly prove to beat all currently available hot melt waxes in friction testing while being much faster and easier to apply. Proper Chain cleaning and Drying Follow SILCA instructions on properly cleaning the chain followed by at least 12 but optimally 24 hours of rest for the wax to fully dry and cure to the chain. SILCA recommends applying the super secret chain wax after a ride so your bike is ready for your next adventure. When most riders hear about a “green” lubricant, it’s implied that the effectiveness of the lubricant does not meet performance standards or falls short of that mark. But all SILCA lubricants have ‘safe for the environment’ ingredients that outperform most lubricants on the market. Reducing the wear and friction for your entire drive train, chain and the typically high friction components will decrease the number of these components being sent for scrap and allows you to protect your investment.
