Squier Jazz Bass Loaded Body Charcoal Classic Vibe 70s Pickups and Electronics READ FULL DESCRIPTION This is from a Jazz bass which I only assembled a few months ago. I thought this sounded great, the quality of the classic vibe pickups really surprised me, but I recently upgraded to some fancy pants expensive pickups in my main Jazz bass and started thinking I don’t really need two Jazz basses. So, decided to sell this one. The pickups, electronics, pots, wiring, control plate, and neck plate are all from a Squier Classic Vibe 70s jazz bass that I bought “open box” (and looked brand new as far as I could tell), and they are still in great condition. You’ll see the original plastic film is still on the control plate, one pickup, and the neck plate. I barely used this over a few months, only played in my bedroom, never left the house, so still in great condition. The body itself is a charcoal Squier Affinity Jazz Bass that I bought used and which came with some surface scratches, dinks, but is in overall good condition. It came with the cream colored pickguard and the bridge, both of which also have some surface scratches and signs of use. The previous owner did a few things to this body that I would have done differently, and these were all surprises to me that weren’t disclosed when I bought it. They’re all hidden underneath the assembled bass and don’t impact functionality, so they ultimately didn’t matter to me. If any of these would bother you then you’ll want to pay attention, kids. For reasons unknown, the three screws holding the control plate were redrilled a few millimeters away so there’s two sets of holes now. I have no idea how anything could have lined up properly with these new screw holes, but they’re there. With the control plate on, all of them are covered up, which is why I only discovered this when taking it apart to put in the new electronics. Shielding tape was added to the cavity, but there’s slight gaps between pieces and none added to the back of the pickguard. I don’t shield my guitars as I don’t want to lose any high end (debatable) but if you’re going to shield it, I thought you’re supposed to form a faraday cage that doesn’t have gaps or openings. I left it as is because I did not want it shielded, but if you’re looking to create a properly shielded cavity you’ll need to add some tape to finish the job. If you look closely at the neck mounting screw holes, a few neck screws seem to have been pushing against one side of the hole when it was previously assembled. It looks like the prior owner swapped necks without plugging/redrilling the new neck to make it perfectly align with the body, and so the neck screws ever so slightly pressed into the body when it was assembled. These are minimal amounts that didn’t cause any problems, but please look carefully at the pictures so you’re aware what’s going on there. Again, this was kept hidden from me and the bass was firmly assembled with no issues when I bought it, it’ll require no modifications to add a new neck now, but if that’s something that matters to you then please look carefully at the pictures. Finally, the previous owner added a thumb rest between the pickups. One of the screws was drilled through the pickguard while the other was drilled into the exposed body area. Which means, if you plan on removing the thumb rest then there will be one exposed screw hole on the body which could not be covered up by a pickguard. Uh oh spaghettios. I like the look and left it on, but if you plan on getting rid of it there will be that issue. You’re still reading? Good for you.
